It is native to the Izu and Ryukyu Islands of Japan, notably Hachijojima , Mikurajima , and Miyakejima , Yakushima , and the Tokara Islands.This species is absent from the main islands of Japan, and due to its limited range, is listed on the IUCN red list as vulnerable .

Description

The Izu Thrush or Blackbird of the Seven Islands ( Turdus celaenops ). It reaches an approximate length of 23 cm, has a characteristic dark plumage, a black head and tail that contrasts with the eye ring.and the bill is yellow, the wings are brown and the belly is rusty red.
